Explicit Content: Here is my why for Spartan.

“Are you insane?”

“What the fuck is wrong with you?”

“You’re crazy!”

“That is stupid!”

“I couldn’t do it!”

‘I just don’t understand it.”

“Why, why, WHY?”

These are some of the many phrases I hear on a weekly basis when it comes to my passion of the Spartan Race. Let’s dissect these phrases a little more and give you some insight to the mindset of me…a devoted Spartan Racer!

“Are you insane?”

Am I insane? Well insanity is defined as doing something over and over the same way but expecting a different result. Perhaps I do these races over and over, but each race gives me something specific to focus on and in the long run it makes me better on so many levels in terms of the physical, professional, and personal aspects of my life.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?”

I’m bald, I am a ginger (when I had hair), I love the 80’s, and my favorite beer is pumpkin flavored (try Shipyard Pumpkinhead). Wait, these are all AWESOME things. Nothing is wrong with me, especially when it comes to Spartan Races. Rather than writing a novel on this (perhaps another blog post), Spartan has made me a stronger, more mindful, supportive, and better person. PERIOD!

“You’re crazy!”

Crazy you say? Yes these races challenge some insecurities and fears. Some may say you need a screw loose to do one (or 30+ like myself). However, I am a strong believer in stepping outside your comfort zone and finding out what you are made of. Check out these past blogs

“That is stupid!”

As a wise Dude once said, “Well that is …your opinion man” –Jeffrey Lebowski. מתוך-הסרט-ביג-לבובסקי-צילום-מסך-ממשה-רבינו-עד-סנדי-קופקס-1024x576__w650h366q80.png

“I couldn’t do it!”

Let me ask you this, have you ever tried it? How could you know if you never tried. When I was 305 pounds and my body hurt everyday, I never thought I could do a race of this type. I decided to make a change and go for it. From personal experience I can tell you that anything is possible. I have seen amazing individuals with missing limbs, crazy limitations, people on crutches or in a wheelchair do these races. If you dedicate yourself you will be surprised what you can accomplish.

“I just don’t understand it.”

Something we all should have learned in school is how to research and form our own opinions (still a valuable practice). Ask people who have participated in one, read about it online, basically read my blog (got to love a self plug), or just sign up and try it. I promise you will learn and understand more than just what a Spartan Race is. You will understand who you are.

“Why, why, WHY?”

As stated above, I do these races because the make me a stronger individual in terms of my body, my mind, and my attitude. I do these races for me because I refuse to settle. I want to continue to build my AWESOMENESS each day and you should too. Why not become better versions of ourselves albeit through a Spartan Race or something you are passionate about.

If that wasn’t enough of  “WHY” I do these races, look below(Insert pics from the last few races.

These people are some of the most driven, supportive, and positive people in my life. I count my blessings every day for each of them (pictured or not). After all, isn’t life about relationships and memories? I am doing some awesome things with absolutely wonderful and inspiring individuals.
